ACHA Hockey Skates Past Northwood Twice To Open Title Defense

Hope College's American Collegiate Hockey Association team started its quest to repeat as national champions with two road victories last weekend.

The Flying Dutchmen defeated Northwood University 8-4 on Friday and 11-0 on Saturday in their season-opening series.

On Friday, forward Noah Arent, pictured, chipped in two goals and an assist for Hope, while defenseman Jake Faustyn added two goals.

The Flying Dutchmen never trailed after taking a 3-1 lead during the first period. Goalie Austin Kane stopped 26 shots.

On Saturday, forwards Max Mones, Jakub Myska, and Peter Stewart each collected two-goal games. Stewart also had two assists.

Forward Brendan Sanders had five assists and one goal.

Hope returns to the ice this weekend with a home-and-home series against the University of Michigan's ACHA team. Friday's home opener begins at 7:30 p.m.
