Women's Swim/Dive Downs Olivet In First MIAA Dual Meet Of The Season

First-place individual performances from seven different members of the 25th-ranked Hope College women's swimming & diving team powered the Flying Dutch to a 113-96 victory at Olivet College on Friday. It was the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet of the season.

Senior Sara Plohetski of South Lyon, High School (South Lyon HS) won the 1-meter board by recording a score of 211.35 points.

Junior Allison Eppinga of Saline, Michigan (Saline) took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 2.67 seconds.

Junior Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community), pictured, clocked a winning 100 breaststroke swim of 1:12.43.

Sophomore Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) posted a first-place, 200 butterfly effort of 2:14.33.

Sophomore Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns) won the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.50.

Freshman Paige Kuhn of Dorr, Michigan (Hamilton) took first in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:27.38.

Freshman Alyssa Potyraj of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) recorded a winning 100 backstroke time of 1:08.95.

In the 200 medley relay, junior Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic), junior Erica Slenk of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian), sophomore Mackenzie Ralston of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores), and freshman Fiona Johnson of Jenison, Michigan (Jenison) teamed for a first-place effort of 2:00.04.

The Flying Dutch next will compete at the University of Chicago (Illinois) Classic on Friday-Saturday, November 16-17
